PokiPaw ("we", "our", or "us") operates the PokiPaw mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you voluntarily provide when using the App:

  • Account Information: Email address, display name, and profile photo when you create an account via Google Sign-In or email authentication.
  • Pet Data: Pet names, species, breeds, birth dates, weight, photos, health records, vaccination records, medical history, tracking entries (walks, meals, sleep, mood), expenses, treatments, care events, training sessions, and documents you upload.
  • Location Data: With your permission, approximate or precise location for the emergency vet finder, community map features, lost pet reports, and walk tracking.
  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for diagnostics and compatibility.
  • Usage Data: Feature usage patterns and interaction data to improve the App experience.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App's features and functionality.
  • Store and sync your pet data across devices and family members.
  • Send notification reminders for vaccinations, medications, and care routines.
  • Generate health insights, analytics, and breed-specific recommendations.
  • Enable family sharing and collaborative pet management.
  • Provide emergency vet finder and location-based community features.
  • Process subscription payments through Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
  • Respond to support requests and communicate important updates.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (powered by PostgreSQL) with row-level security policies. Pet photos and documents are stored in secure cloud storage with authenticated access controls.

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL).
  • Row-level security ensuring users only access their own data.
  • Optional biometric authentication (fingerprint/face recognition) for app access.
  • Screen protection to prevent unauthorized viewing.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data only in the following cases:

  • Family Sharing: When you invite family members to share pet data via join codes or QR codes, shared pet data becomes accessible to approved family members.
  • Community Features: Lost pet reports and adoption listings you create are visible to other users in the community section. You control what information to include.
  • Service Providers: We use trusted third-party services (Supabase for database and authentication, Google Maps for location features) that process data on our behalf under strict data protection agreements.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

5. Third-Party Services

The App integrates with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

  • Supabase - for authentication, data storage, and real-time sync.
  • Google Maps Platform - for location-based features.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store - for subscription management.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access: View all personal data stored in the App through your profile and settings.
  • Update: Edit or correct your personal and pet information at any time within the App.
  • Export: Generate PDF reports of your pet's health records for your own use or to share with your veterinarian.

  • Opt-out: Disable location services, notifications, and optional data collection through your device settings.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data and pet records are permanently removed from our servers within 30 days. Anonymized usage analytics may be retained for product improvement.

9. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for any international data transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the App and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
