Best Pet Care Apps 2026: Top Pet Apps Ranked (October Update)

Best pet care apps 2026 comparison

Our verdict, updated October 29, 2026: the best pet care app for most owners is PokiPaw, because its free plan covers one pet’s full health record, vaccine and medication reminders, expense logging and family sharing, with Premium at $2.99 a month or $24.99 a year for unlimited pets and charts. 11pets is the pick if you want your vet or groomer entering data directly. Petly is the choice for a completely free Android tracker. Pet Diary is for owners who mainly want a photo journal. Details, prices and the full comparison table are below, re-checked against each app’s current store listing and website.

What changed since our March review

  • 11pets now shows a Free and a Premium tier on its pricing page; reminders, a second pet and family members are Premium. The US App Store lists in-app purchases of $1.99 and $17.99.
  • Petly in this ranking is the Android “Petly – Pet Care Tracker”, which is free with no ads and supports 35+ species. Earlier versions of this article described a narrower app under the same name.
  • PokiPaw Premium now has a 7-day trial, and the web app is live alongside Android and iOS.

What we evaluated

We compared each app on seven criteria:

  1. Health tracking — medical records, vaccines, medications
  2. Daily journaling — activity, feeding, weight
  3. Expense management — budget and spending tools
  4. Family sharing — multi-user access to the same records
  5. Platform support — Android, iOS, web
  6. Emergency features — quick-access safety tools
  7. Value — what is actually free versus paid

The top pet care apps of 2026

1. PokiPaw — best overall

PokiPaw earns the top spot for covering every part of pet ownership in one app, and for putting the essentials on the free plan rather than behind a paywall.

Standout features:

  • Four-tab health system: Medical, Vaccines, Analytics, Medications
  • Vaccination reminders 7, 2 and 1 days before each due date
  • Medication tracker with dose-by-dose logging and missed-dose detection
  • Daily journal for weight, walks, food, water and sleep
  • Expense tracker by category, with pie charts and 6-month trends in Premium
  • Family sharing with join codes and roles, synced in real time
  • Dedicated emergency screen with GPS vet finder and poison-control info
  • PDF health report for the vet, 16 species and 690+ breeds
  • Works offline: cached records plus queued sync
  • Android, iOS and web

Pricing: free for 1 pet with one family member included. Premium $2.99/month or $24.99/year, 7-day free trial, unlocks unlimited pets, weight and expense charts, unlimited exports and 100 photos per pet. Family Seats from $1.99/month.

Best for: owners who want one app for health, expenses, family coordination and daily tracking. See the free pet health tracker app comparison for the free-plan detail.

2. 11pets — best when your vet or groomer is on the platform

11pets has been around for a decade and now pairs a pet-owner app with “11pets Business” for vets, groomers, sitters, trainers and shelters.

Standout features:

  • Medical records, weight and vital signs on the free plan
  • Appointment booking with professionals who use 11pets Business
  • Professionals can write directly into your pet’s record
  • Care and grooming task scheduling
  • iOS, Android and web

Pricing: free tier with records and activity tracking; reminder notifications, more than one pet, family members and unlimited storage are Premium. The site publishes no price; the US App Store lists in-app purchases of $1.99 and $17.99. 11pets states it works only online.

Best for: owners whose clinic or groomer already uses 11pets, or who mainly want grooming schedules. Full head-to-head: PokiPaw vs 11pets.

3. Petly (Pet Care Tracker) — best free Android app

Several apps share the name; this is the Android “Petly – Pet Care Tracker” by Joel Pérez Martínez, last updated July 2025 on Google Play.

Standout features:

  • 100% free, no ads, no subscriptions
  • 35+ species, from dogs and cats to reptiles and fish
  • Weight log with a visual timeline, vet visit manager, vaccine and medication records
  • Colour-coded calendar for vaccinations, deworming, grooming and dental events
  • Real-time sharing with Owner and Viewer roles
  • 35+ languages

Pricing: free.

Limits: Android only, no expense tracking, no PDF export, reminders are calendar events, and it is a small project (about 1K+ downloads). Comparison: PokiPaw vs Petly.

4. Pet Diary — best for photo journals

If documenting your pet’s life in photos is the priority, Pet Diary builds a clean visual timeline.

Standout features:

  • Photo-centric timeline
  • Memory and milestone tracking
  • Simple, focused interface

Pricing: free with in-app purchases, per our March review. We did not re-verify Pet Diary’s pricing for this update.

Best for: a digital scrapbook rather than a medical record. Read the PokiPaw vs Pet Diary comparison; if you want a diary with more structure, DogLog is also worth a look.

Our recommendation

For most pet owners, PokiPaw offers the best value in 2026. The free plan is enough for a single pet, and Premium at $2.99 a month unlocks unlimited pets and the analytics. It works on Android, iOS and the web, and it includes the reminders, family sharing and emergency tools that the others either charge for or do not have.

How we checked

Each app’s store listing, website and pricing page was reviewed on October 29, 2026. PokiPaw’s free plan was tested directly. Competitor details are limited to what the vendors publish; where a feature is not mentioned, the table says “not stated”. Pet Diary was not re-verified in this round.
